The Telangana government is set to resume work on the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel project, nearly a year after a fatal roof collapse killed eight people. Officials have decided to abandon the previous Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) method due to challenging geological conditions and will instead adopt advanced tunnelling technologies. This decision follows an aerial electromagnetic survey providing crucial data on rock conditions, which will inform new safety and monitoring measures. The project aims to provide irrigation and drinking water to drought-prone and fluoride-affected areas.
