Over 1,400 contractual teachers in Haryana state universities are seeking job security, similar to extension lecturers in government colleges who received protection last year. These university teachers, some serving for years, fear displacement when regular faculty are hired. A government committee formed in December 2024 to examine demands for job security up to age 60 has yet to resolve the issue, with some teachers having already been relieved and later reinstated. The Haryana Universities Contractual Teachers Association is advocating for their rights.
