While the UAE has not imposed a blanket ban, state scholarships will now be directed to institutions in other countries. This decision, which also includes not recognizing degrees from unapproved institutions, follows diplomatic strains between the two nations over the UK's approach to the Muslim Brotherhood. The number of Emirati students in the UK has seen a decline.
