The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government and its power utility following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). The PIL alleges that government departments owe over Rs 2,600 crore in unpaid electricity dues. The petitioner further claims that the state is resorting to selling the power utility's land, valued at approximately Rs 2,700 crore, to cover financial shortfalls and pending subsidy payments, instead of clearing the outstanding bills.
