Four major banks, including SBI and Bank of Baroda, have appealed to the Central Information Commission (CIC) against the RBI's decision to disclose Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and defaulters' lists under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The banks argue that such disclosures would harm their commercial interests. The RBI, however, considers the records disclosable. The CIC has referred the matter to a larger bench for adjudication on the banks' objections.
