The BJP in Telangana has proposed renaming Nizamabad district to Indur if they come to power, citing the Nizam era as a period of oppression. BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind stated the original name was Indur and changing it would aid development. Telangana BJP chief Ramchander Rao supported the move, suggesting other Nizam-era names also need changing. Congress leaders, however, criticized the proposal as divisive identity politics and an attempt to create unnecessary controversy.
