Authorities in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, have launched a large-scale anti-encroachment drive on cemetery land near a disputed religious site. Officials stated that a mosque was constructed on protected land allocated for the poor. After a revenue court ruling, 48 individuals identified as unauthorized occupants were issued notices and have begun demolishing structures. The land is being cleared for its intended beneficiaries. Occupants have 15 days to respond to the notices, with further legal action planned if explanations are unsatisfactory. The encroachments are reportedly 60 to 65 years old, affecting approximately 4,780 square meters of land.
