
Legal experts have given in-principle approval to the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, which proposes removing ministers, including the Prime Minister or Chief Minister, if detained for 30 consecutive days. The bill, currently under review by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC), also faced questions regarding discrepancies, such as MPs/MLAs retaining membership while ministers would lose posts. Lawmakers sought clarification on defining "heinous crime" and the treatment of habitual offenders.
