In Pune's municipal elections, the BJP is campaigning vigorously, fielding 25 'turncoat' candidates, causing some internal discontent. Chandrashekhar Nimhan, a BJP candidate from Aundh-Bopodi Ward No. 7, declared assets worth Rs. 36 crore, a significant increase from Rs. 17.67 crore in 2017. Nimhan, formerly a Congress corporator, faces seven criminal cases. The BJP aims for an absolute majority, building on its 2017 victory where it won 97 seats, ending years of Congress-NCP rule.
