The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is moving forward with plans to upgrade the Valmikinagar airstrip in Bihar's West Champaran district into a full-fledged airport. A master plan has been prepared, and the AAI has generated an R-2B code for the project. The upgrade includes acquiring 12 acres of land, constructing a pre-fabricated terminal building, an Air Traffic Control building, and a fire station, among other facilities. A soil survey is pending to finalize construction estimates.
