India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has recommended mandatory video and audio recording in air traffic control towers at international airports. This follows an investigation into an Ariana Afghan Airlines flight landing on a departure runway at Delhi's IGI Airport in November. The AAIB stated that such recordings would aid in analyzing controller actions and reconstructing events during incidents, enhancing safety oversight. The recommendation aims to provide crucial data for investigations by the AAIB and DGCA, particularly in high-risk situations.
