Union Minister V. Somanna announced that the Centre has sanctioned ₹12,900 crore for railway projects in the Kalyana Karnataka region. He stated that annual allocations for Karnataka's railway development have significantly increased from approximately ₹882 crore to ₹7,500-₹8,000 crore under the current government. Major projects include the Ballari-Chikkajajur double-line project costing ₹3,400 crore and several road overbridges and flyovers aimed at improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion.
