A cyber espionage operation attributed to China's Ministry of State Security, dubbed 'Salt Typhoon,' has reportedly breached email accounts of US House of Representatives staff. The campaign, active for years, targets US communication networks, potentially accessing unencrypted phone calls, texts, voicemails, and emails. The breach, detected in December, affected aides on committees related to China, foreign affairs, intelligence, and armed services. US officials note that older network infrastructure contributes to system exposure.
