The Trump administration has expanded its visa bond program, adding 25 countries to a list of nations whose citizens may be required to post refundable bonds of up to $15,000 for B1/B2 visitor visas. This brings the total to 38 countries, primarily in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. The policy, aimed at deterring visa overstays, takes effect January 21. Venezuela is among the newly added nations. Critics argue the bonds make obtaining a U.S. visa unaffordable for many.
