
The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench has deemed a circular by the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) regarding CCTV footage storage as contempt of a 2020 Supreme Court order. The apex court mandates footage preservation for at least six months, up to 18 months, while the DGP directed a maximum of two-and-a-half months. The High Court questioned the logic behind the DGP's directive and requested a personal affidavit from the UP Chief Secretary.
