Customs officers at international airport Red Channels will now be required to wear body-worn cameras (BWCs) under new Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) rules. This directive aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and passenger experience by recording all passenger-facing interactions, including questioning and baggage examination. The move is intended to ensure fairness, safeguard officers against false allegations, and aligns with global best practices. Footage will be retained for at least 90 days, longer if needed for investigations.
