The LDF Parliamentary Party leader in Kochi Corporation, V.A. Sreejith, has accused Mayor V.K. Minimol of spreading falsehoods regarding biomedical waste collection fees. Sreejith stated that the previous LDF council resolved to collect waste at a much lower rate than the ₹45 per kilogram the Mayor allegedly claimed. He asserted that the council had approved a rate of ₹11.5 per kilogram, with the entrusted agency collecting at a subsidized rate of ₹12 per kilo, aiming for free collection from households once a new plant becomes operational. Sreejith alleged the Mayor is misleading the public for political gain and demanded the plant's immediate operation for free services.
