King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow has deferred its planned boycott of outpatient department (OPD) services, originally set for January 13, until January 14. This decision follows assurances from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take prompt action regarding a January 9 incident of violence and vandalism on campus. Various KGMU staff bodies had threatened the boycott due to the delay in registering an FIR for the alleged damage at the Vice-Chancellor's office and misbehavior with staff, reportedly linked to a visit by UP Women's Commission Vice Chairperson Aparna Yadav.
