Mani Shankar Aiyar's definition of Hindutva has drawn sharp criticism from the BJP. Responding at the same event, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi defended Hindutva, describing it as 'Hindu tattva,' the core essence of Hinduism. Trivedi argued that the 'ism' suffix is used to demean Indian religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism, contrasting it with 'Islamism' and 'Christianism'.
