The Maharashtra government has waived stamp duty on agricultural and crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh, effective January 1. This decision aims to reduce farmers' financial burdens and simplify the loan process. Previously, stamp duty was approximately Rs 600 for a Rs 2 lakh loan. The waiver applies to various loan-related documents and is binding on all lending institutions across the state, making borrowing costs lower and the process easier for farmers.
