A meeting between Ladakh leaders and the Union Home Ministry's High-Powered Committee (HPC) is anticipated in early February, with dates still being finalized. This will be the first high-level discussion since last year's violence during protests for statehood and Sixth Schedule status. The HPC, formed three years ago, last met in May, with an October meeting deferred. Discussions are expected to cover Ladakh's demands, including statehood and special constitutional status.
