Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been granted a 40-day parole, marking his 15th release from prison since his 2017 conviction for rape. He will stay at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa. This parole, approved by the Rohtak Divisional Commissioner, comes ahead of the birth anniversary of Shah Satnam Singh. Critics, including Sikh organizations, have previously voiced concerns over frequent paroles, some of which have coincided with elections. Ram Rahim is also serving a life sentence for murder, though he and others were acquitted in one such case by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in May 2024.
