
The Union government will increase spending by ₹17,000 crore on the rural employment guarantee program, now renamed Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act. Telangana is set to receive an additional ₹340 crore. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy stated the reforms aim to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability through technology, including geo-tagging and penalties for delayed wages. He asserted that states will have more authority in implementation schedules, and the scheme's focus will shift towards broader rural development and income enhancement.
