
Nagaswaram exponent Thiruvizha Jayashankar has been selected for the Kerala government's Harivarasanam award for his contributions to temple art forms. The 90-year-old artist will receive the award, which includes a Rs 1 lakh cash prize and citation, on January 14 at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam. Jayashankar, a recipient of numerous state and central honours, joins a list of distinguished past awardees. The announcement was made by Devaswom Minister V.N. Vasavan.
