In Chennai's T. Nagar, sanitation worker S. Padma found a bag containing 45 sovereigns of gold jewellery, valued at approximately Rs 45 lakh, left unattended on a pushcart. Demonstrating integrity, she immediately reported the find to her supervisors and handed it over to the Pondy Bazaar police. The owner, jewellery trader Ramesh, had accidentally left the bag behind. Police verified the find and returned the jewellery to Ramesh. Padma's honesty was widely praised, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin felicitating her and awarding her Rs 1 lakh.
