Researchers in Karnataka's Vijayanagara district have documented an ultra-rare leopard color morph, dubbed the "Sandalwood Leopard," the first such sighting in the state and second in India. This female leopard exhibits a pale reddish-pink coat with light-brown rosettes, unlike the typical tawny coat. Images captured by the Holematthi Nature Foundation show the leopard with a cub of normal coloration. While the unique appearance is documented, genetic confirmation requires further DNA analysis. This discovery highlights Karnataka's rich biodiversity.
