The Malwa Cultural Forum is organizing its 29th annual Lohri event on January 10 to celebrate the birth of girl children and challenge societal beliefs about gender inequality. The tradition, started to address a declining sex ratio in Punjab, aims to change mindsets by celebrating new female births with gifts, cultural programs, and traditional dances. This year, the birth of 125 newborn girls will be honored, continuing a decades-long effort to promote the value of daughters.
