A consumer court has ordered The Leela Palace Udaipur to pay Rs 10 lakh in compensation to a Chennai-based couple for violating their privacy. The couple alleged that housekeeping staff entered their occupied room using a master key while they were inside the washroom, despite requests for no service. The court found this to be a deficiency in service and an invasion of privacy, rejecting the hotel's defense of following standard operating procedures. The hotel was also ordered to refund the room tariff and pay litigation costs.
