West Bengal authorities have deployed high-speed, remote-controlled water drones for pilgrim safety at the Gangasagar Mela. These drones can travel at seven meters per second, transmit HD video, and tow up to 1,000 kg, enabling rapid rescue of multiple individuals or life rafts. The technology, designed for swift response in distress situations, features GPS navigation and auto-righting capabilities for reliable operation in challenging conditions. This marks the first extensive use of such advanced rescue technology at the annual pilgrimage.
