These boycotts, often affecting families within the Deevaru (Ediga) caste, as well as Scheduled Caste and other backward classes, restrict social interactions and can be enforced for various reasons, including defying committee decisions or supporting those who do. Affected individuals express deep distress over the isolation and inability to participate in family events, hoping a new law will offer redress.
