AIIMS has launched a free in-house Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) service for epilepsy patients, effective January 1. This initiative eliminates the need for patients to use private labs, saving them between Rs 390 and Rs 1,880 per test. The TDM tests measure blood levels of anti-epileptic drugs like phenobarbital, carbamazepine, valproic acid, and phenytoin to ensure safe and effective dosing. This move aims to reduce treatment delays and financial burdens for both inpatients and outpatients.
