
Five migrant workers from Jharkhand, abducted by militants in Niger in April 2025, have returned to India after eight months. The workers, employed by Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited, were released following coordinated efforts by the Jharkhand government, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Indian Embassy. They have arrived in Mumbai for health checks and formalities before returning to their homes on January 14. The abduction occurred during a militant attack near a project site.
