
Karnataka plans to expand menstrual cup distribution to adolescent girls in classes 9-12 starting next academic year, alongside continued sanitary napkin provision for younger students. This initiative, part of the Shuchi program, aims for sustainable and cost-effective menstrual hygiene. A pilot in two districts informed the decision, with cup usage being voluntary. The state has approved procurement of sanitary napkins and menstrual cups for approximately 19.64 lakh students, with a total expenditure of ₹61.35 crore.
