Mysuru has seen growing adoption of OnBoard technology, a radio-frequency system developed at IIT Delhi, to assist visually impaired passengers in identifying KSRTC buses. Introduced under the Dhwani Spandana project, the technology allows users to audibly receive bus route numbers via a handheld device. The Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement has trained over 470 visually impaired individuals, with a significant portion actively using the system, reducing reliance on others for navigation. Students and employees are primary users, and female adoption rates are notably higher.
