The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to deploy a US-made Tarpomatic system to mitigate the severe stench emanating from the Kanjur Marg landfill. This automated tarping machine, expected to be operational within 60-90 days, will cover active waste areas, reducing odor, fire risk, and improving airspace utilization. The move follows Bombay High Court directives after residents complained about the persistent smell. A monitoring committee, including IIT Bombay experts, has also been formed to assess solid waste management and provide recommendations.
