The Kochi Muziris Biennale has temporarily closed an exhibition venue after Christian groups, including the Syro-Malabar Church, protested an artwork they deem insulting to religious sentiments. The piece by artist Tom Vattakuzhy reimagines 'The Last Supper' with a dancer in place of Jesus and nuns as disciples. The church stated the artwork violates fundamental respect for religious beliefs. Vattakuzhy's work previously faced similar controversy in 2016.
