A mobile solar-powered millet processing unit has been inaugurated in Gundri, Erode, to support tribal communities. Costing ₹23.5 lakh and funded by the StartupTN Scheme and CSR, the unit operates entirely on solar energy. It addresses the challenge of low grid power capacity in the hills, enabling local processing of millets like ragi and thinai. The initiative aims to improve food security, reduce drudgery for tribal women, and create sustainable income opportunities for over 1,500 families.
