Mizoram leads India with the highest adult HIV prevalence rate at 2.75%, significantly above the national average of 0.20%. Despite this, the state has improved its national ranking for HIV prevention efforts, moving to third place. Between April 2024 and November 2025, over 3,200 new HIV cases were detected, primarily through sexual transmission and among individuals aged 25-34.
