Durga Kami, a Nepali national, is recovering well after undergoing the first heart transplant at Ernakulam General Hospital. She has been weaned off ventilator support and is communicating with her brother. Doctors report her heart is functioning well, hemoglobin levels have improved, and there are no signs of infection. The hospital, which performed its first heart transplant in December, noted that the surgery was made possible by judicial intervention due to Kami being a foreign national.
