
A NIMHANS study published in JAMA Psychiatry found that incorporating a short yoga module alongside standard medical management for opioid dependence nearly halved the time patients took to stabilize from withdrawal symptoms. Participants receiving yoga and buprenorphine-based treatment achieved withdrawal resolution in a median of five days, compared to nine days for those on medication alone. The yoga group also reported improved sleep, reduced anxiety and pain, and showed better autonomic recovery markers.
