At least 10 people have died and hundreds have fallen ill in Indore's Bhagirathpura due to contaminated drinking water. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of faecal bacteria, including E. coli, Salmonella, and Vibrio cholerae, in the water supply. Officials suspect a leak in the Narmada drinking water pipeline near a damaged sewage line allowed wastewater to seep into the potable supply, affecting an estimated 50,000 residents. Authorities are flushing pipelines and investigating further vulnerabilities.
