Delhi's government plans to install floating waste segregators upstream of Palla, where the Yamuna enters the city, to intercept floating waste and hyacinth. This initiative, costing approximately 44 lakh, aims to prevent pollutants from reaching Wazirabad. Similar structures are planned for the Shahdara and Trunk drains. While the government sees this as a solution, an activist noted that industrial pollutants from drains like number 8 are a more significant issue and suggested focusing on drains carrying industrial waste from Panipat and Sonipat.
