Five migrant workers from Jharkhand, abducted by militants in Niger in April 2025, have been safely released and returned to India after eight months. The workers, identified as Sanjay Mahto, Raju Mahto, Chandrika Mahto, Faljit Mahto, and Uttam Mahto, were working for Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited. Their return followed coordinated efforts by the Jharkhand government, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Niamey, and their employer. They are currently in Mumbai undergoing health checks and legal formalities before returning home.
