A new study estimates India faces the second highest economic burden from diabetes globally, totaling $11.4 trillion, after the United States ($16.5 trillion) and ahead of China ($11 trillion). Researchers calculated the economic impact across 204 countries from 2020-2050. Global costs are around $10 trillion excluding informal care, but rise to $152 trillion when factoring in lost labor from caregivers, which constitutes nearly 90% of the total burden.
