Guwahati welcomed the New Year with a surge of visitors to two new public landmarks: the Sati Radhika Shanti Udyan on the Brahmaputra riverfront and the Boragaon Martyrs' Memorial. The Udyan, in particular, saw an estimated 100,000 visitors on New Year's Day, causing temporary traffic disruptions. Management reported exceeding expectations, with daily visitors numbering over 10,000, including many from outside Guwahati and other states, and a significant number of school excursions.
