Pacer Mohammed Shami was once again overlooked for selection in India's 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Despite a strong domestic performance, including 20 wickets in four Ranji Trophy games and 16 wickets in seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches, Shami did not make the cut. The selectors opted for Mohammed Siraj to lead the pace attack, alongside Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh, with Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya rested. Shami's last international appearance was during the Champions Trophy 2025.
