West Bengal's Raja Das, a 33-year-old Pencak Silat player who assists his father as an ice supplier, won a gold medal at the Khelo India Beach Games in Diu. Das defeated defending champion Prasanna Bendre to secure the victory. He has been training in Pencak Silat, a martial art combining artistic movements and combat techniques, since 2017, inspired by its inclusion in the 2018 Asian Games. Despite family responsibilities and a past tragedy, Das has consistently won national medals.
