FIDE and Freestyle Chess organizers have resolved their dispute to jointly host the FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship in Weissenhaus from February 13-15. Six players, including Magnus Carlsen and Arjun Erigaisi, have qualified through the 2025 Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour. Hans Niemann received a wildcard, and an online qualifier will determine the eighth participant. This event adds a new format to the existing World Chess Championships.
