
Indian middle-distance runner Jinson Johnson, 34, announced his retirement from competitive athletics on Wednesday after a 15-year career. A three-time Asian Games medalist, Johnson won gold in the 1500m and silver in the 800m at the 2018 Games, and bronze in the 1500m in 2023. He also held national records in the 800m and 1500m, and was the first Indian male to qualify for the Olympic 800m since 1980. Johnson expressed gratitude for his journey, highlighting representation at the Olympics, World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.
