India's PV Sindhu advanced to the Malaysia Open quarterfinals, defeating Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki 21-8, 21-13. Sindhu, returning from injury, secured her second win against Miyazaki. However, Indian players Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty were eliminated in their respective pre-quarterfinal matches. Sen lost to Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu, and Shetty was defeated by China's top seed Shi Yu Qi. The men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also progressed.
